Meeting Bob Schieffer...again!
How lucky am I to go TCU! Every year Bob Schieffer brings a fantastic panel of professional journalists to the Schieffer symposium. This year's symposium was right up my alley! It was all focused on election coverage. John Harris, a co-founder of Politico was one of the panelists. As a self proclaimed political junkie Politico is basically my life blood. Not only did I get to share a room with him but I actually talked to him for about 15 minutes!!! HOW COOL?! Plus, Chuck Todd, my crush from the MSNBC's "The Rundown" was part of the panel.
A huge focus of the Symposium was the damage to Romney during the primary and how/if he can come back. I was surprised to hear many panelists give Romeney a serious chance in the general election.
There was also some speculation about potential Republican Vice Presidential candidates. I was glad to hear Kelly Ayotte come up but I have to agree with most panelists who said they thought we will see more action from her next election cycle.
Basically getting to talk to 3 of my favorite people in the business personally (Chuck Todd, Bob Schieffer and John Harris) was just about a dream come true!

Meeting BOB SCHIEFFER!
I guess it's like they say, hard work gets the rewards! Bob stopped in to thank me for volunteering at the Schieffer Symposium and gave me about 45 minutes of his time! We talked about everything from the future of local newspapers, to how I can get a J-O-B! It was a great reminder of what I set out to do in the industry, and hey, he is a TCU grad, so if he can do it I can do it!
A note on the Symposium:
A wonderful experience! I got to meet both Arianna Huffington and Brit Hume briefly. Huffington commented on my heals saying if I could last a night in those I must be a hard worker! As I always say "Flats are for quitters." I met many journalist from Fort Worth's local papers, and the whole experience reassured me that I do have a future in this industry! Also hearing the perspectives of some of the greats in our field was very compelling. One thing that was cemented in my head: Twitter has arrived! Honor to be a selected student for the Scheiffer Symposium
I was so excited to find out I was one of the few students selected to work the Scheiffer Symposium. I will have the opportunity to have one on one time with Mika Brzezinski (MSNBC), Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post), Brit Hume (Fox) and of course Bob Scheiffer. All this hard work is paying off. To read more about this years symposium click HERE.
More to come after the event!
